Parker thought leaders came together on a panel to explore the vital intersection of civic participation, learning, and democratic health.
The Stenn Family Civics Panel on Education and Democracy kicked off the school’s 125th Anniversary series of public events featuring Parker people, including entrepreneur, radio talk show host, Parker parent emeritus, and Life Trustee Rufus Williams as moderator, in a spirited discussion with Parker History teacher and parent emerita Jeanne Barr, former Parker Assistant Principal and parent emeritus Damian Jones, former Parker teacher and MIT Sloan School of Management Dean Rick Locke, and High Jump Executive Director Nate Pietrini.
The panelists fielded Williams’ questions on civic responsibility in schools, community access, and bridging perspectives, providing insight from the viewpoints of early childhood, middle school, high school, and college and reminding all of the importance of education and democracy.
