Students in the Middle School Social Justice League were recently hard at work, donating their time and talents to spread some holiday cheer to those who need it.
Building on the success of their efforts last year, students constructed gingerbread houses and donated them along with construction candies and frosting to Be Alright, a support network for domestic violence shelters across the city. The organization will use the donated items for a festive activity during its annual family holiday party, where victims of domestic violence and their children can decorate the houses together.
If your Middle School student is interested in creating positive change in our school and our community, please join us. The Middle School Social Justice League meets every Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. in room 347. No experience is required, just a desire to reach out and affect social change. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the League’s sponsors: David Fuder (dfuder@fwparker.org), Karen Liszka (kliszka@fwparker.org) and Phenice Williams (pwilliams@fwparker.org).
Francis W. Parker School educates students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse democratic society and global community.
