AFS-Sponsored ZooLights Outing

By Upper School French teacher Lorin Pritikin
On Friday, December 3, the weather gods cooperated for a festive AFS Committee Heads-sponsored outing to ZooLights for Hiba Elabbassi, Parker’s Moroccan AFS exchange student.

AFS Faculty Liaison and Upper School French teacher Lorin Pritikin and Committee Heads—sophomores Julia Peet and Quinn Kass and senior Elsie Rattner—hosted Hiba, along with her AFS friends Ilhame and Andi, from Morocco and Indonesia, respectively, who attend Lincoln Park High School. Joining the group were Hiba’s fall semester hosts, 10th grader Alex Fidler and sister Talia Fidler and their mom, Kate Grossman, and spring semester hosts, senior Yaleigh Harris, with her parents, Schena and Mosea Harris. Chicago AFS Liaison Shauna Peet accompanied us, along with Upper School Spanish teacher Yadiner Sabir and her daughter, Amina, and Upper School Operations Coordinator Lisa Williams.

After ZooLights, the group was treated to a uniquely Chicago culinary experience: dinner at the iconic restaurant, RJ Grunts. There was sheer joy on the faces of our AFS guests as they strolled through the beautiful festival of holiday lights that did our city proud!
