Congratulations to Parker’s Upper School Scholastic Bowl Team on capping off a tremendous season with a successful campaign at the Small Schools National Championship Tournament in Rosemont.
The A team (seniors Jake Boxerman, Mason Gardner, Eli Moog and Mia Wichman and sophomore Grant Koh) went 7-3 during prelims, good for 4th place out of 11 in their pool and a spot in the playoffs. They won a nail-biter in their opening playoff game before dropping their final two, including a narrow 10-point loss to Elgin Academy to end their season. They finished the weekend tied for 17th out of 55 teams. The B team (juniors Leo Auerbach and Timo Kiep and freshmen Logan Florsheim, Annoshae Mirza and Beckett Nikitas) competed valiantly all weekend against mostly older and more experienced players. Their 1-9 record fell short of playoff qualification, but they showed that they belonged among the top varsity programs in the nation.
Congratulations to Grant, who was the 11th-highest scoring individual among 271 players. And congratulations to graduating seniors Jake, Mason, Eli and Mia, who capped off prolific scholastic bowl careers, having amassed a combined 920 correct tossup answers during their four years of competition. Their contributions to the growth of the program have been immeasurable, and their presence will be missed next season.
