Community Gathers to Make the Summer’s Robotics Invitational a Success

This year’s Chicago Robotics Invitational hosted by Parker on July 15 and 16 was the biggest and best iteration of the event yet!

With 34 teams in attendance, the competition expanded to more than two days and attracted teams from 17 U.S. states and four countries—Romania, South Africa and Kazakhstan, in addition to the U.S.—who were selected from more than 60 applicants. The event featured many teams who made it deep into the elimination tournament at the World Championship, competing again with an expanded challenge, so the competition was stiff. The winning alliance consisted of teams from Colorado, Utah and Pennsylvania.

In the event’s fifth year, an expanded list of activities included formal judging and workshops. More than 70 volunteers ran the event, including many Parker Robotics alumni from as far back as the class of 2016. In addition to hundreds of people attending in person, the event gathered thousands of views on the livestream from people all over the world.

The event’s massive success carries the Parker FIRST Robotics teams as they enter their new competition season throughout September.

Furthermore, the FTC Robotics program in the U.S. will meet to discover the new game for this season. New members can come on Saturday, September 9 at 9 a.m. to Room 181 in the Suzanne Crown Goodman Science Wing to learn more about the program before jumping into the season with the veteran members starting at 10 a.m. No prior experience in robotics or engineering is necessary.
