By Coach Xiao Zhang
Congratulations to seniors Logan Florsheim, Annoshae Mirza, Beckett Nikitas and Jasper Polsky; juniors Daniel Chang, Darius Cleaver and Chase Wayland; and sophomore Jack Bartlett for winning the Loyola Ultima Tournament Championship in the Challenge Division. This is our second tournament championship of the season.

In the five preliminary rounds, Parker kept a perfect 5-0. After being behind Notre Dame A by 65 points, Parker routed it in the second half with the final score of 380–215. Florsheim was ranked third among all players in individual toss-up, with Mirza sixth and Wayland 11th.

In the five championship group rounds, Parker ended with a 9-1 record. Parker lost to Latin A in a close match, our only loss of the day. Against Walter Payton B, Parker was behind by 85 points at the end of the half. But again, Parker came back strong in the second half, defeating Payton 390–280.

Parker played against the undefeated Homewood Flossmoor A for the championship. With three questions remaining, Parker was down by 75 points. With three successive toss-ups by Wayland, Nikitas and Chang and five bonuses answered correctly, Parker won a thrilling comeback game by five points.

Congratulations to Polsky for his first toss-up playing on the varsity team, Cleaver for rejoining the team and first toss-up of the season, Bartlett for earning 50 toss-ups on the varsity team and 250 toss-ups total, Wayland moving up to fourth place in total toss-ups, Florsheim moving up to third place in total toss-ups and Mirza with more than 500 total toss-ups and the second best personal record.
