Junior Wins Poster Contest

Junior Malik Crowder’s submission to the Friends of the Chicago River’s annual Student Poster Contest won first place in his age category!

History teacher Sue Elliott connected her Civic Lab group to the Friends of the Chicago River this year as part of Parker’s Civic Lab Program. As part of their 33rd annual Chicago River Day celebration, the organization held a poster-making contest asking students to communicate the importance of tackling litter in Chicago communities.

Crowder submitted work for the competition, and his first-place win recognized his creative talents. Juniors Mariya Melikhova, Nathan Pantoja, Graysen Pendry and Dylan Wright received Honorable Mentions in the contest.

All winning posters will be displayed at the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum for the entire 2025 season.
