Upper School Art teacher Kay Silva and 1st grade teacher Bev “Greenie” Greenberg have made good on their plan to connect their students across divisions.
Earlier this year, 1st grade students each drew an imaginary creature and shared these drawings with Upper School students in Ceramics and Fashion Lab classes, who worked to transform their younger peers’ ideations into three-dimensional sculptures.
In creating their pieces, Upper School students had to envision a flat design in 3D, while considering side and back views and construction methods. Ceramics students used Sculpey modeling clay to shape their creations, and Fashion Lab students sewed fabric soft-sculptures.
All students had so much fun giving and receiving their co-created creatures!
