Upper School students in the Chess Club participated in their first official competition in the Chicago Chess Conference this year, competing at St. Ignatius, where the team won one of their six matches against the strongest team in the league.
Student team members Shalen Chawla ’25, Jasper Chazen ’25, Ari Deutsch ’26, Beckett Selikow ’25 and Ethan Kinnison ’27 shared that they welcome students of all skill levels and encourage folks to pop by for snacks, socialization and watch them practice as they prepare to compete in tournaments against other schools throughout the season.
The team meets on Mondays and Tuesdays; interested students can contact Advisor Matt McCaw at mmccaw@fwparker.org for more information.
Good luck to these students as they host Mt. Carmel in their next competition!
