Thanks from the Lost and Found Committee

Every year, for a few days every few months, the Parents’ Association Lost and Found Committee sets up tables of items in the Front Alcove to help Parker families reclaim lost items. At the end of each Lost and Found event, there are always items that haven’t found their original owners. Have you ever wondered where these treasures go?

The committee usually works together to deliver the usable items to a local charity, such as Cradle to Crayons. At its first Lost and Found event of the 2023–24 school year, one LS/IS family—the Min family—asked if they could collect the unclaimed items to help the migrant families arriving weekly.

It was a family affair for the Min family. Parker parent Eunice and her mother collected the usable clothing and coats, while 5th grader Arden and SKer Sparrow helped launder and fold stacks of clothing, with an assist from little sibling Asa.

Eunice said she was happy to help friends in need by donating them to the Sabka Free Store, which is one of several “stores” set up for migrants and refugees in the city.

Approximately 150 people are visiting the store each day that it is open. Most of these individuals, from babies to adults, are improperly clothed in warm-weather apparel, with no change of clothing. Eunice reported the mountain of sweatshirts they collected have already been put to very good use!

Just another great example of how Parker is looking out for the greater community.
