Corinthians Morning Exercise

Since the school’s founding in 1901, Parker has begun each academic year with the Corinthians Morning Ex. Students gather in the Heller Auditorium, where Principal Dan Frank speaks and reinforces the belief that all individuals in our school community matter. To begin this special Morning Ex, and to help reconnect and identify with our past, music teachers Emma Castaldi and Robert Denien have spent time working with students on Parker’s “Alma Mater” school song. Using this newfound understanding of our school, and as a special treat, faculty and staff volunteers led the school in singing a rousing rendition.

Next, as the school has started every Corinthians Morning Ex since 1901, there was a reading from Corinthians 12:14–26, reminding the assembly of Parker’s commitment to each individual in our community; this year Assistant Director of Admission for Outreach and Recruitment Maggi Steib read the selection. Additionally, to highlight how these ideals of our shared humanity and commitment to each other are global in scope, there were two additional pieces: Middle School drama teacher Ed Garza read a piece by civil rights activist Cesar Chavez, and 3rd grade teacher Nadia Pardesi read words from 13th century Persian poet Rumi. Finally, representatives from each grade, faculty and alumni, rose to place their pieces of the puzzle in the model home mosaic, as music teacher Kingsley Tang led the school in singing Parker’s traditional song, “Who’s Got a Piece of the House?”
