Student Art Provides Fall Color

Student artists have been hard at work recently, producing a range of creative projects that are providing a touch of fall color to the halls on campus.

Eighth grade students have been producing watercolor pareidolia and collaborative murals. Upper School students in Photo 1 have used magnification, distortion and reflection to make photographs that play with perception. Upper School students in Photo 2, with inspiration and guidance from photographers LaToya Ruby Frazier, Bill Brandt and Martin Parr, set out to capture what vexes and compels them in our culture. Fourth graders have been developing self-directed pieces reflecting their voice, choice style, concepts, materials and techniques. Kindergarten students produced a collaborative piece using a drop painting technique that involved filling socks with sand, dipping them in paint and dropping them on paper to make an original work of art. Student and employee artists have also been adding their contributions to an “Inktober” display since the beginning of the month.
