Congratulations, Sarah! One milestone down (primary school) and a new adventure follows (high school). You’ve achieved so much already: you learned to read and conquered arithmetic; you traveled the world and used at least three different languages; you’ve tutored newly arrived immigrants; you’ve shared cultures with people from the Middle East, Europe, Australia, and Turkey. More importantly, you developed from a wee little tyke to an incredibly beautiful and confident young lady. And the best is still to come, even though Sarah at 13, is pretty spectacular. You just make all of us smile. Congratulations on where you’ve been and where you will go. We have a hunch it will be incredible, so make sure you enjoy each day of the journey called Sarah. We are thrilled to watch and share.

- Morgan!
Dear Alex, You have been truly a blessing in our lives. As we reflect and reminisce through the years about your childhood and your accomplishments, we are grateful for the love, the joy, and the fun experiences we have shared. You may remember the walks in Lincoln Park looking for Black Heron nests, your first solo flight at ten to visit us in Florida, Papou teaching you how to ride a bike in Lake Shore Park and our family trip to Greece to learn about your heritage. All of these experiences helped to shape you into the fine young man you are today. We have applauded your efforts with academic challenges and cheered you on in your success. We have also observed your passion, persistence and dedication as an athlete in basketball. You have worked hard and persevered. You have grown into a young man; a wonderful son, loving brother and a caring grandson. You have developed qualities that embody kindness, integrity and the pursuit of excellence. Go forward with pride for all you have accomplished. Two quotes come to mind as you begin the next chapter of your life. “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom” Aristotle “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined” Henry David Thoreau Congratulations on your graduation Alex!

Congratulations to All! Despite this year's unfortunate break with Parker Tradition, this eighth grade class has been given many opportunities. Now what counts is how these gifts are used. I know as the grandmother of Elise Allen-Study that her brains and beauty will open many doors. Elise, it will be exciting to see how you will use your gifts and what you will achieve. I look forward to sharing in the thoughts and passions that the future holds.

Paul, You, your friends and classmates have traveled a long path from JK to the present. Not only have you grown physically, but in character and knowledge, too! It's been so rewarding to watch you! Even though your next path at Parker is shorter, you have an opportunity to build on your foundation and pursue a passion or even several of them. Our very best wishes as you travel this next pathway. The next four years will be another adventure and like any adventure the end will be determined by what you do. Look to the beacons of family, friends and teachers to light your way.

We Love You,

Grandpa and Grandma
To those I have taught and to those who I have seen through the halls and in band concerts: you are such a special and wonderful group. The Middle School is a better place for the time you've spent in each of its halls: as sixth graders, seventh graders, and as eighth graders. You've dealt with the challenges of emergency distance learning and missing out on your eighth grade traditions with grace and with a maturity beyond your years. You will be a grade I, and I'm sure many, will never forget -- CONGRATULATIONS on moving on from Middle School!!! Continue to be rock stars in the Upper School :)

Mr. Denien

Congratulations to the graduating Parker 8th grade class! A special shout-out to my friend, art buddy and 'adopted' family, Wren Dudney!! I am so happy and proud of you as you move into high school- amazing opportunities and challenges await. I know your remarkable talents and hard work will reap many rewards and successes. However, it is your deep well of kindness, your compassion, awareness and support for everyone around you, and your wit and open heart that make you the incredible person you are. I can't wait to watch everything you will bring into this world. With a big cyber hug, and a real hug soon, your pal and former car-pooler,

Congratulations to the graduates! Job well done. A special shout out to our nephew and cousin, Jack Charfoos. Love you and so proud of all your hard work. Advice from a fellow camper, may you bring this forth to all aspects of your life. Always leave a campsite better than you found it. The world will be a better place as you travel through the space. There are no such thing as rainy days, only golden and silver days ahead. Try to find the silver lining in our hardships. Finally, no matter the day we always end with a campfire. Gather among friends and family. Celebrate the day, the moments and take time to just be. Xoxo

"...no one ever promised us a life free from pain and disappointment. The most anyone promised us was that we would not be alone in our pain, and that we would be able to draw upon a source outside of ourselves for the strength and courage we would need to survive life's tragedies and life's unfairness." --Rabbi Harold Kushner My Beloved 8th Grade Class: It is has been an honor watching you all get to this important milestone! At this time, we are supposed to be celebrating together--in small and large groups, and it is unfair that we can't do that. But, as y'all have done in the past, I implore you to imbibe the strength and joy from your friends and families and let it warm your heart and help you to persevere and flourish despite/because of this unfairness. As Sam would say (quoting his beloved Bill Belichik): "We are going to turn the page and move on. We're on to Cincinnati".

Jackie Scott (aka Sam's Mom)

Hello all,

I feel very fortunate to have gotten to teach you over the past several years. I have seen you grow immensely, both literally and figuratively, and have enjoyed learning from and with you. The energy and creativity that permeated so much of the projects that we worked on together made coming to work a pleasure and I knew that I could always expect to walk away from a day of brainstorming, whether it be for games we designed, obstacles courses we created, models we programmed or inventions we were developing, with new and interesting ideas bouncing around in my head that you had conjured up. Congratulations on this milestone and I can't wait to see how you all rock high school in your own individual and unique ways. And a special shout out to the Masteroids! Our robotics team would be lucky to have any of you.

Cheers,

-Mr. Colestock
Benjamin, You are my sunshine and I know that your smile will always be bright and your spirit will always be strong! While the past two months have been challenging and filled with disappointment (it just feels unfair!!), I am confident that you and your classmates will continue to pull together and come out stronger. FWP 2024 is an amazing group of people. You are resilient, supportive, kind and determined to name just a few characteristics of your class. Use what you have learned during this trying time to make yourselves, your community and the world better. And in the immortal words of Frank Sinatra, always remember, "... it's a real good bet, the best is yet to come." Congratulations to you Benjamin and all of Parker's 8th grade on your graduation!

Love,

Mom

Congratulations graduates! Alex you always make us proud. Your drive, ambition, thoughtfulness, empathy and heart are just some of the qualities that make you who you are. These traits will guide you the next four years. A few words of advice - hard work always pays off; trust and listen to your instincts; and slow down! Also ... “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” - Michael Jordan

We love you, Mom, dad and Luke
Congratulations and all the best to the 8th grade graduates!

Augusto Ornelas
Congratulations to the Eighth Grade class! To our Nate Dawg - keep playing hard! Your energy, zest for life and inquisitive mind is what makes you so special and us so tired. Your integrity, sense of self and kind heart are your strengths that will lead you to great success in high school.

We love you so much,

Mom, Dad, Mia and Sydney
I can’t believe it’s taken the school four years to celebrate your completion of fourth grade! Those four years just flew by, didn’t they (no matter where you were four years ago). I hope you take a moment to consider how far you’ve come since then (or from any other not-quite-as-important time in your past). The growth from being 9 to being 13 or 14 is enormous and I’m sure you’ve learned a lot about yourself along the way. I suspect there may be more to learn in the next four (or fourteen or forty) years and it’s nice to have these milestones to cause you to pause and take stock of who you’ve become and who you may yet become. Congratulations on finishing middle school and happy fourth anniversary of finishing fourth grade!

Miriam Pickus
Congratulations Josh Gourdji. Née and Papa are so proud of all you have and will accomplish.

Martin Gradman

Love Mom and Dad (and J & e)
When I stop and think about just how much resilience and strength and self-sacrifice you have demonstrated as a class this spring--as students, as citizens, as empathetic and generous human beings giving up much for the safety and well-being of others--it blows me away. So proud of you, so grateful for you all. Your class will have special gifts developed in recent months other classes haven't had.

John Novick
Dear 8th Graders, I know your final year of middle school isn't ending the way you probably imagined it, and my heart goes out to you. You are all awesome, resilient and talented people, and I am so excited for all of you to begin the next chapter of your lives--high school. I hope you manage to find some fun and adventure this summer, and I look forward to seeing you in real life soon!

Perhaps I am biased because I am the parent of a current eighth grader but I happen to think this is a truly extraordinary class. We would like to congratulate each and everyone of you not only on your academic achievements but on your kindness as a community to one another. I believe you will take with you from your experience at Parker thus far the true sense of community, no matter what the times may bring, that Parker hopes to instill. Congratulations! We look forward to celebrating you as soon as the world opens. There is so much to celebrate!

“Supposed to be”
-Tray White

What is your eighth grade year supposed to be?

You are supposed to be…
...with each other,
...together,
...at school
...in your community.

You are supposed to be…
...laughing,
...crying,
...playing,
...feeling,
...learning,
...thinking.

You are supposed to be experiencing…
...family,
...love,
...joy,
…pain,
...relationships,
…connection.

You are supposed to be…
…in the present moment,
…looking backward,
...looking forward,
...saying hello,
...saying goodbye,
...transitioning.

Maybe what is ‘supposed to be’ has already happened and, since then, have now become memories.

Maybe what is ‘supposed to be’ is happening at this very moment in time...right now!

Maybe your lives are ‘supposed to be’ changing, different, and new.

Maybe change happens and always will - with different and new being the closest of siblings.

Is this what you expected?
Me neither.

Nonetheless, through it all, you are…
...processing,
...coping,
...grieving,
...adapting,
...adjusting,
...learning,
...strong,
...and will make it.

We SEE you.
We THINK about you.
We HONOR you.
We LOVE You.
