Fifty Years after “Chicago ’68”
The Parker community and public at large are welcome to attend a special evening with author, professor, historian and Parker alum David Farber ’74.
An internationally respected scholar in the fields of politics, political culture, social change movements, counterculture, business and society, and modern U.S. history, Farber is known for his studies in American political conservatism and progressive politics.
Fifty years have lapsed since the historic 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago Farber reconstructs in his classic book Chicago ’68. At this gathering, Farber will talk about what 1968 meant to both the progressive and conservative political movements in the U.S. and the potential effect of a 50-year perspective on our political culture today and in the future.
Parker’s Nightviews Speaker Series provides a public forum for conversation on world perspectives featuring talks on current issues in education, art, society, politics, psychology and science. Throughout the years, thought leaders from across the nation, as well as members of Parker’s faculty and administration, have delivered lectures in this series.
