Student Voices Resound During D.C. Trip

 

After organizing a Middle School walkout in March to speak out against the gun violence that plagues our country, a group of 8th grade students were resolved to bring their message for change to Washington, D.C.

 

After a few days of sign-making during lunch and after school, they were prepared to make their presence felt in front of the White House last week as part of their annual class trip. Students exercised their First Amendment rights by chanting and marching, observing a moment of silence for victims of gun violence and inviting other school groups to join them. Parker students passionately let their voices and presence send a strong and determined message for change, learning further what it means to be active citizens in a democratic society.
