Alumni Connection Triggers Inspiration

Parker faculty frequently tap their personal experiences and professional networks to enhance engagement in their classrooms, whether they teach classes in person or remotely.

Last year, when Kay Silva accepted her current position at Parker, she told her college friend, artist/set designer David Gallo, whose partner, Viveca Gardiner, was a member of Parker’s class of 1984. This week, as a spontaneous product of this serendipity, Silva shared a new video that Gallo and Gardiner produced to help inspire her 4th, 6th and 7th grade art students.

Silva remarked, “We’re all coming together collectively right now to make lemonade out of lemons. Artists like Dave and Viveca are contributing through their lighthearted approach to sparking kids’ imaginations and creativity during quarantine.”

Everyone likes a good assignment, but the chance inclusion of a Parker alum made for a surprise that students loved!
