Parker Participates in Chicago Shakespeare Slam

Upper School English teacher Corey Zeller, retired English teacher Bonnie Seebold, senior Will Ehrlich, senior Grayson Schementi and junior Ava Utigard are among 250 students from 39 Chicago-area high schools and to participate in this year’s Chicago Shakespeare Slam’s performance of Hamlet.

 

The Chicago Shakespeare Slam is an ensemble program building community, both among the members of a school’s team and between the teams participating across the entire region. Together, participants have the opportunity to dive deep into a shared text—and do so through an infinite number of lenses crafted out of students’ own imaginations. Although this program went remote due to COVID, students across the Chicago area worked together throughout the fall semester for the fourth annual Slam, exploring and interpreting the work of Shakespeare—and, most important, celebrating the power of their own voices.
