Student Presenting at Virtual Food Allergy Conference

There is a quote from Colonel Parker that many in the school community have heard before: “The supreme need of society is ideal citizenship. Ideal citizenship demands for the individual the highest degree of knowledge, skill, power and service.” This weekend, Parker student Riya Jain ’24 is participating in an event that highlights her belief in service and shows how she lives this quote in more than just words.

Jain, a longtime proponent for doing more to help educate those around her, is leading Kid Con at the Center for Food Allergy and Asthma Research’s FACES in a Flash. This event is a food allergy conference for individuals, and their advocates, with food allergies and related conditions that works to highlight key topics in this area. Jain will lead the meetings with younger students as she empowers and provides them with a supportive environment to connect with one another and learn the latest research and techniques to help manage daily life with food allergies.

When asked about the upcoming conference, Jain shared, “I couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity and knowing that I helped empower or support just one kid is more than a reward for me.”

As Parker strives to educate students to act as “responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse democratic society and global community,” we are very fortunate and proud to have students like Jain who can highlight for her peers and the wider Parker community what it is like to live this mission.
